Started in Idaho, ended up in Virginia!
Last week Wednesday I asked if there were any good shops in the area and was rewarded with a bunch of good information. Thanks to you guys I was able to get my weekend lined-out perfectly. You can read that thread here

I travel for my job and rarely get the opportunity to really go out an see stuff when in a specific area. This time my schedule allowed me to travel around during the weekend and get a chance to plan what I was going to do thanks to you. I called a long time buddy from right here, we've been speaking back and forth around three years now. We met over an 090 deal, .... it was time I actually met him and his family so that was part of the deal right off the bat.

Saturday was a day at a local saw shop and it was fantastic!! No saw shop like this in Virginia Beach, well take that back, the Stihl plant is there but they won't let me in, wonder why??:hmm3grin2orange: That thread with pics here

Sunday was a visit to Wayne Sutton's collection in Amboy WA. Wayne invited us in like we were family. Walked through the shop and told us stuff you could only imagine. He knew the story of every saw in the place, he was able to speak the first name of a shop owner I've been using for the last 30+ years.... who I won't mention for security reasons... you know, he's got the good stuff we don't talk about in public ;)

Absolutely.... unbelievable... inside this shop! Thousands of saws of every type and flavor! YES, those two mans above the Stihl sign on the left are Stihl BLKs, two more to the left you can't see for a total of 5, 090G on the floor with a 7' bar.

Matt, one of the very few 10 cube 090's ever made.... I stroked it for you!

And this Contra G also.

A wall full of Yellow Gold! Randy Mac would have had a heart attack there for sure, we would have had to leave him! More Super 797's then LEEHA has! Yellow everywhere, BP1, and probably every Mac ever made! More than 30 two man saws hanging from the ceiling.

The best deal of all was that my buddy Mark and his wife Karen invited me over for supper and offered the guest cabin for the night. Now I'm a little old for sleep overs, but after 3 years of seeing him on AS, texting, speaking on the phone and talking saws forever I couldn't refuse! We talked saws, family and life in general until pretty late and of course drank beer until the chickens crowed!

Mark and Karen, I really want to say thank you for opening your home to a complete stranger. Dinner was fabulous and so was the conversation and company. It was the icing on the last several years. Thank you so much, your welcome at my home always!

Thanks to you ASer's for telling me where to go. Truly a great weekend made even more memorable because of Mark and Karen, a true friend made right here!!

See, there's more to the Pacific Northwest than just rain!

Shhhhhhh. :mad2:

Folks, it's cloudy and or rainy here every day but two. Nothing to see here, move along, only saws here are in museums...

But you aren't a stranger, that's what does it here for me a small band of brothers! Great story I love this stuff, good ole boys! REP sent!

It does rain all the time. Don't move here.

This little tidbit from the weather forecast.

... Flood Watch in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of western Washington... including the
following counties... Grays Harbor... Clallam... Jefferson...
Skagit... Whatcom... King... Lewis... Mason... Pierce... Snohomish...
Thurston.

* From Tuesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon

* heavy rain is forecast in the mountains late tonight through
Wednesday morning. The snow level will rise to 5000 to 6000
feet during this period. If the heavy rain occurs... flooding is
possible on virtually all rivers flowing out of the Cascades and
Olympics. A Flood Watch is now in effect for all main Stem
rivers in western Washington.

* Some uncertainty still exists. However recent weather models
have forecast the heaviest rainfall in eastern King and
Snohomish counties. In this area of the Cascade mountains 4-7
inches is forecast... with some higher bullseyes. The rivers at
greatest risk of major flooding are the ones flowing out of this
area... the stillaguamish... the Skykomish... the tolt... the
Snohomish... and the Snoqualmie. Other rivers with at least part
of their drainage in King and Snohomish counties include the
Skagit and Cedar rivers... and these also have a high risk of
flooding.

lost to see in this corner of the country . but to quote a former oregon Governor , come visit but don't stay. or something like that. glad you had a good time.

Nice

That is the kind of saw shop I could get lost in and never come out!

Needless to say, the pleasure was all mine.

Finally getting a chance to meet the infamous "Watsonr" after all this time was as good as it could get. I'll have fond memories of firing up the 1-86 in the shop, 2 cycle smoke blowing all over the place and the two of us just laughing like kids!
Anyone that has the chance to meet Randy in person will be glad they did. Anytime you're in the PNW Buddy you got a home.
Some more photos from Wayne's.

I told my wife already that before I cross the river to the eternal hunting fields, I must have seen Wayne's collection first......:cool2:

I would say NO. We asked about how he got them and say's most are donated. Also asked if he has a bone pile with a sheepish grin- YES. When asked about parts and things like that it was as quiet as a whisper.... just crickets in the background! What was surprising was that he said most don't run, some do, and not surprising was ... I don't have time to make them all runners.

Heavy rain bring river advisories

( CENTRALIA ) – The snow level is heading up to the thousands of feet. By the end of the week, we’ll see it fall to the hundreds. The situation currently has forecasters saying it’s a good idea to keep an eye on our local rivers. There’s a flood watch now through Thursday afternoon. It extends to Lewis, Thurston, and Grays Harbor Counties. The blast of tropical-born rain means the alert extends to all local rivers. However, all the snow-melt means the Cowlitz River right now is getting most of the attention. Things go from mild to chilly by the end of the week. KELA-KMNT Weatherman Dean Dahlin says a strong system Friday will bring cold weather. It could equal some weekend lowland
