I wanted to post about some people who I really enjoy working for, to kind of level things out from my prior thread. This one lady who I am supposed to give a price to for a few BIG pine trees wants some references from people I have done work for in the past. A couple of people came to mind.

1) Main insurance agent, she is always on the look-out for more customers for me. Even though she has many, many clients I am the only green industry person who gets to put their cards on her desk. With her it's kind of do the job and tell her the price afterwards... no problems with payment EVER, her husband is a DIY type guy... so I don't have work with them too often. Go over there though for whatever reason and I get fed, plus drinks, paid no problems. Really enjoy working for that lady.

2) Secondary insurance agent. Picked him up from the first lady. Guy is always looking for new customers for me. Pays right away without any troubles, never debates price, if he is home when I am there he offers coffee, water, food, etc.

3) Misc lady I work for. She's always got something and I get other jobs through just going and being at her house to work. Neighbors, friends, other contractors, etc. No problems getting paid, no hassles with prices either... it is what it is. If she's around... what would you guys like to eat today? Coffee? If he's around it's tips for all.

The first 2 people said they would both be glad to give me references. Haven't contacted the third person yet, but I know what the answer will be over there.

I wish they could all be like these 3.

I used to do some part time excavating work. A Bobcat 743, 3 yard dump truck & myself. I always kept it simple and picked up the small jobs that nobody else wanted.
I had a customer that had purchased an old farm house and barn with 10 acres. There was quite a bit of work to do to get the place acceptable for his wifes horses. The place turned out to be a weekly paycheck for me. I never got greedy with my rates and they kept me busy for 2 summers.
I wouldn't even have the machine loaded on the trailer and he would be standing there with checkbook in hand.
When you were offered a beer at the end of the day,it always came in a frosted mug too.
You just can't beat a good customer.
