Spring-like winter logging. The adventure begins. Of course, the weather forecast is now for the snow level to come down. The emergency skidder has been delivered. The emergency skidder will be parked here, about 7 miles from the unit. If there is a dump of snow, the emergency skidder can be used to get up to the unit. This spot is usually accessible, unless it was last winter.

The plan is to rig up a block, hook a line to the shovel (still needs to be lowboyed in) and have a human haulback to get the line up the hill from the main road as far as possible. Most of the unit will be logged uphill with the yarder, which is already sitting on the upper landing.

Yeehaaa!!!

Let the fun begin.

Are they gonna build a sled for the crew and tools?

Skidders dont do all that well in snow from my experiences. like putting 4 balls where the tires where. Hit the gas, gravity tells you where you are going. .

Hopefully things will work out.

P.S. Slowp, feel welcome to wish that low snow line over here. I want to go skiing more!!

I did a little sledding in the Chevy today. Turned sideways so I could see what was on the side of the road a bit better. Then the Chevy straightened out and I was in charge again. I hate going sideways down roads!

There's only a few stretches of snow on the road. I wore my leather Kuliens to hike up to the yarder.

I forgot to bring my other camera home. The fuzzy dice that are on the yarder are holding up well, but the stick on dots are fading.

Saw a few elk again today.

I think darn near every other outfit still has an old 518 Kitty.

Love/Hate relationship with sliders, mostly love on that machine.

That one doesn't look like it's totally beat to a pulp.
