When I bought this place there was a previously topped maple in the front yard (30'). A woodpecker gouged a huge hole in the trunk about 1.5' from the ground and not knowing any better I cut it down. I should have let it die or at least fall over . I am letting that lilac between the houses do whatever the hell it wants. I'm hoping to turn it into a wall from the back lane to the front street.

Too bad you couldn't transplant giant rottenwoods. I'd put one right in the middle of the yard just to piss the neighbors off.:D

Here's the monsters in the back yard. Me and the old man planted them underneath the power lines. I think I got a few years before I need to do any trimming though.

3 lemon scented shining gums,2 birches1 messmate 1 self sown out of the mulch flowering gum

Bunch of red & white oaks around my house, some pine, sweet gum, couple of maples and some holly. Couple of bradfords in front of the house nice to look at but need a lot of care. I probably have one of the more wooded lots in my community. This fall I have to get up in them and get some deadwood out and clip some back from the roof. Kind of a ongoing joke from neighbors, all of their trees are trimmed and maintained (by me) and my lot needs the most work.

Stevie don't hang out at AS too much lately. Chasing splittail, I imagine!

I've got maples, ash, cherries, swamp white oaks, a white oak, norway spruce, blue spruce, black spruce, a horse chesnut, a black walnut, an eastern cedar and unfortunately I have a dying American elm that happens to be the nicest tree in my yard...was the nicest tree. Anyhow those are the trees in my "yard" lots more on the rest of the property.

Just took a walk around the yard today and looked up the trees in my Audobon book. I've got a 60' sycamore, two pines, and four basswood trees. Actually, it's a condo, so the trees belong to the association, but no one else seems to have a clue about tree care (but that's another thread). Just started to cut the ivy out of the biggest basswood. Looks like that will be my new hobby. I should have taken a picture of it before I started working on it. The ivy was so thick, you couldn't even tell it has two stems. Later, Roger.
