Hey everyone, Been browsing this site for about a week now, and i gotta say...... Holy smokes, I'm a newbee. Seriously tho, From what i've seen, I can really learn a lot here. I started in tree work business about 6 yrs ago, as a groundie, brush hauler, rope-man, and for the past 3 yrs have been climbing. So far it's only been td's, so my climbing experience without gaffs is kinda limited.
Got my copy of On Rope ordered today, (hopefully a step in the right direction), as i am aware that gaffs on a trim job is a no-no.
Am always willing to learn new techniques as all i really know is from what i observed watching the guy i worked for as he climbed, and am learning as i go climbing on my own. I work full time in a factory job, so my climb time is not near what i would like it to be. But someday in the near future i plan to make tree care a full time occupation. Thanks everyone for all your information, very helpful. :p Roland Reedy

Hey! We on the same boat. I've been climbing about three yrs, and am trying to get away from spiking on the trims too. Check out the spikes thread if you haven't allready. Lots a good advice from the experts. I'm goona like this site too.:blob2:

Thx all for the warm welcome. As for the haters..... I work in a factory, deal with em all the time. ;)

"On Rope" has great rope science expanding understanding of considerations, strategies etc.

These compliment it very well, or give ya ideas and perspectives on rope handling, dependancy until ya can get a copy of the recognized standard "On Rope"; i think ya'll find the prices right for these real jewels "if it's free; it's fer me!":Monkey: .

"Life on a Line" Free Download Book

"Industrial Rope Access" Free Download Manual

"On Rope'' Catalog Books Free Downloads Page

and the

Free Samson Arborist Catalog Download ain't shabby either, has briliantly colored pix on rope wear, rigging knots, climbing hitches etc.

Welcome aboard guys!
