I am in good shape and know what hard work is about. I have been doing bodywork for 15 years. i would like to get some training or book knowledge on the subject before starting a new job. I will be working for a major tree company clearing powerlines for a utility. any suggestions out there?

If your into pain and suffering, welcome aboard. You will know pretty quickly if you want to do this work. 42 is a little late in the game to be starting but you can do it. If you don't mind dragging brush or holding a traffic flag or working in poison ivy, your first couple of months should be a blast. They are not paying you to think from the neck up. Good luck and be safe.

I started climbing at 44, here it is 3 years later and I've still got all my fingers and toes. :hmm3grin2orange: I'm only doing
"part time" work. I already have a full time job. Tree work is by far the hardest work I have ever done. Pain and suffering? Ayuh,
that is the honest truth.:D
Work safe. ::thumbsup::

Work with the company and get them to lay you off so you can go to school. In Canada your schooling would be paid for. Check yours might be too. Use the big company like they use you. Work with the guy with the most experience and ask questions. All the best!

:rock: Its a good sideline, and it will keep you in shape, but you aint gonna wanna be doing this all day every day when you are 62.

For real.

Do it long enough to know the business, then hire some young bucks to do the grunt work.
