Hi all,
I grew up around a Landers Chain Tightener. It looks and works like a standard load binder, except that instead of the regular 2 hooks it had 3, two of which (mounted either side of the third on the main arm) had claws instead of standard grab hooks. This thing is great for pulling it doesn't care about mud, and you throw a toothpick (cheater) on it and you can drag a pickup by hand. The first pull is just like a standard binder, however when complete, you find the other claw dangling next to the next link on the chain, hook it up and pull the handle back to the starting point and you get another bite, and it is ready to start over again. I found the patent for the first time today at http://www.google.com.mx/patents/US3265356
Has any one seen one of these, or know where I can get one?
Thanks
Ivan

What is it the same concept as using two snap binders I wish I could see a pic of it better on the pat page

Yes it is exactly the same idea, except that it works a whole lot better, sorry I don't have a good picture of the original I would go and take one but it is 1000 miles away at the moment.

Click on the view PDF button for a better look. Come alongs of this type are often listed in sale catalogs as railroad spike pullers or tie lifters.
