Can a Timber Jack/ Log Lifter do about everything a cant hook can and lift too? Sherrill #16107.

Working on the rolling function (not 'jack leg' lift) does Timber Jack/ Log Lifter move as much weight and diamater?

Does 'Jack' lifting leg come off temporarily to have it out of the way.

My cant hook walked a while back...........

The TJ and the CH are basically the same with some substantial differences. The lifting "T" leg has a single removable bolt attachment. So, you can turn it into a CH. The handle is about a foot shorter than the 5' CH, so there's a reduction in leverage. The 'dogs' are shaped differently, too- I believe the CH provides better purchase with its design. I've only used the TJ a few times; I don't care for it much because the relatively small range in log diameter it will handle. That is, it won't grab onto a log smaller than say, about 8" and when you get to logs in the upper limit of its capacity, the weight is too much to lift onto its stand position. I might be off on the 8"- going by memory... HTH
