For those who have built the wooden guide rail and guide rail supports, what material works best or doesn't work?

I used treated 1x6's 12' long with "L" brackets from lowes. I made the guide rail before the Timberjigg arrived, I was surprised to see that I just wasted $50 on brackets cause they come in the box from logosol.

Several months later my guide rail is starting to warp. I think aluminum would be best.

Deck Boards

Great stuff! I also covered mine in loads of old floor wax that seemed to really help the say slide along and also kept rain out quite well. Most of the stuff here was made with boards milled using the Timber Jig... curvedideas.com

Aluminum- now that is an idea! I might have to ponder on that one for a bit. I made mine from some doug fir 1x6x12's I had milled a coupe years ago. I used wooden blocks to support the joint on the underside of the "t". Works pretty well so far.

I'm setting up a mini mill and am considering using an LVL or micro lam. These are engineered boards that are hard and flat and come in many lengths and widths. They can be cut down to any width. Does anyone know how well they stand up to weather? I know they start perfect and can withstand several months outside but not sure after that. They are a bit spendy though.
