Hard to believe the mess people get themselves into when they suspect they have a timing issue. Buy an AM coil that usually doesn't work, pull the FW and check for sheared key, buy another FW, etc. BUY A TIMING LIGHT and resolve it quickly and easily, they are easy to use and you just need a good variable speed, reversible power drill to turn the engine over (which you should already have). You can get one on Amazon for about $30 which is less than the tachometer that people seem to have no problem throwing money at. They usually require a 12v power supply; a battery charger or a hard wired 12volt adapter from 110 v AC will do. Lots of info on how to use them by doing a search on this forum.
