Thanks to the keen eye of a fellow collector and another collector/enabler I was able to get this saw. From what I’ve been told they were somewhat fragile in the crankcase area and often broke there.
These saws are similar to a few other models in the sense they were recalled to be destroyed. Very few were made and even fewer survived. So far I have only been able to track down 4 in the US, including this one, and one, possibly 2 in Oz.
They are twin cylinder with two counter-rotating crankshafts. From my understanding, the “carrier” bearing between the two crankshafts sometimes failed, and sometimes the crankcases broke in between the two crankshafts when excessive pressure was applied in the cut. If anyone has any further information regarding these saws, I’d like to hear about it.
