The ash I have been slashing at for about 5 years now. I have been slashing all over that tree too. They dumped clay on the root crown some years ago and the tree has been affected. The house side roots have been , well, destroyed is a good word. I cleared some clay from the root crown last spring.
I have worked on this tree's canopy 3 times in 5 years. First to clear the abundant sucker, deadwood and limbs on the roof sort of thing, then a last year I shaved off a good bit that went over the peak of the roof and suck. I might have went hard doing that but felt it was a good idea anyway.
This time ( 3rd time) right now we just went to pop a few limbs of of the right side upper canopy trying to alleviate weight/wind stresses while cleaning out the dead and opening up the space on the other side for more light.

I mean hell I was up there on that bit of true blue I bernt up from those poplars but I did make a good presentation on some good basic things to look for and do while you are trimming a tree.

So he went up to this cheery which is a nice climb.

Nice looking tree TMD, was the clay over the roots having a shingling effect? I imagine you've pruned all the dead stuff out of there, looks like you've really helped it along over 5 years.
