Howdy Everyone,

This morning I received a call from a gentleman from Sav-A-Tree, offering me regional supervisory position. I am hesitant to accept for several reasons, not the least of which being that I own my own Tree Care company, as well as a few other companies. However, they are paying really well, and can offer me a few things that I cannot offer myself at this point.

I guess my question is this: Does anyone out there have any experience working for/with Sav-A-Tree? If so, on what level?

Please let me know your opinions on this. :bang:

It comes down to whether or not you want to become a Yes man. Do you really want to take orders from Sav-a-tree executives? Where in a small business sole proprietorship, you make calls and consequently you take the blame for the misfortunes. If you like the independence then stay on your own.

A friend of mine in California sold out to Sav-A-Tree and now works for them, very happily.

I don't think they'd offer me much for mine but if they did I'd listen, and look hard at the details and my personal goals.

name

What kind of name is Save A Tree? Do they ever cut anything down?

I was a climber with them for a while. It was nice walking into a nice clean office and not some guys garage every morning. They offer the benefits of a large corporation, but they're the only large company I've worked for so I can't really compare. I have heard Care of Tree's has nicer toys. Overall, good company. Back to the garage.:bang:

the thing that kinda weirds me out is that they called me. I didnt apply to thier company... I just got a call from one of thier people one recent morning. I dont know whether to be flattered or freaked that they got a hold of me. I like the idea of having a company truck and a 401K, but I also have alot of my own customers, that I feel I might be abandoning.

I guess I'm gonna sit down with them and find out what they have to see for themselves. I really want to stay in the field, not get bogged down with all kinds of crazy paperwork.... I guess time will tell.

I worked at SlaveaTree for 5 years as a foreman. Unfortunately my career there came to an abrupt end due to an unfortunate computer incident - practical joke gone awry - wooops. Anyway, as far as tree jobs go, it was a good gig. They are safety conscious, the pay and bennies are good and most of the staff are amicable and knowledgeable amigos and amigas. However, life as an ops manager may be a completely different story. It's a tough decision. I would weigh the pros and cons.

Thats called head hunting. It happens all the time in other professions as well. So it's not to uncommon thing. So I wouldn't be too freaked about it. Good Luck

What gets me is why wont these large companies franchise. Ive been a franchiee before and it was profitable but no tree companies do it.
