I got out to my friends place to mill some logs I have stored there for over a year. There's only one log in the photo but I milled three red elm logs. This is the smallest log and one log a little bigger were cut 5/4. The larger log around 24 inch was cut 3 inches thick for a bar top.

Great looking wood !

That red elm is really nice looking. Does is pay to quarter saw or is it best flat sawn? More pic if ya got em please.

I have a bunch out in the driveway. I'll take more pictures tomorrow if I get a chance. Quarter sawn would have been the way to go for sure but with the Alaskan mill it would have been difficult. I'm sure I'll get a really nice bar out of what I got.
