I went to a friend's property today to help him cut some firewood. The shagbark hickory was in a spot too wet to access, so we went elsewhere and dropped a couple of oaks. This was between a couple of trunks, and that is a 24" bar on the 272xp. I didn't have a camera, so the photo was from his phone. I may have to cut it out in sections since I destroyed the chain in attempt to flush cut it loose. There seem to be hollows, dirt and rocks in and under this burl.

Hope all goes well with cutting it loose! One chain is pretty tough luck, but five chains would be a "Bubba, get me that can of gasoline...and stand back" time!

I once cut up an Oak Burl, couldn't hardly give the stuff away? Go figure? Should have made some table tops out of it...cause the bugs found it in the shed out back and pretty much turned all of it into dirt. Made for some nice pen blanks(what I could recover from it).
