a local tree guy called me this am . he wanted to khow if I would take some poplar . I told him to let me know what I had to do , and then got home to find this .I guess im gonna be buying some beers .

Don't know any tree service guys around here that bring a splitter to a job. Next time tell them to stack it also.

the chipper broke down so he had the guys hand split it while it was getting fixed .

Cut to length, delivered, and split too!!!!! Unbelievable. I have seen it all now.

The best I ever did was I dropped off my trailer in the morning. When I went to pick it up the tree service had cut it all to length and loaded it for me.

Great score cut/split/delivered for free. It is near the bottom end of firewood but I have used it. It is wood, it burns and it produces heat.

While not the "best" wood available, it is far from the worst. We heated one year with 100% poplar. 2 massive trees. 5-6 cords in them total.

I heat my hot water all summer with poplar and scrap wood and a little good ash. I heat most of spring and fall with poplar. It's gotta go somewhere it might as well warm me. They are falling down all over in the bush near me.

True. I heated with willow for over 30 years, nothing else even came close to the cost per btu. 100 mile round-trip to the mountains for better species. Then the loscust borer moved in and killed a lot of black locust - made some awesome scores. Still have around 60 cords in the stash.

Wow - the last gift I got from my tree guy was a load of huge box elder pieces that he told me was ash. He called again today with an offer of soft maple and tulip. I turned him down.

In his defense, some people call Box Elder "maple ash" so its kinda ash

I know some wood snobs, I am not one.....You want to dump a load of cut and split wood at my door step for free, I will burn it
