A few pics of the one I have to do tomorrow. Took pics in case she wants to turn it into insurance and will take after pics in case the damage is more extensive than it looks so she will be covered. I've got to take this off the roof and prune three more trees. I came in dead even with the highest bid, $200 higher than the third bid. She said she decided to go with me because I sold her on the spikeless pruning and no topping (which the other company planned to do). I sold the service not the job.

that's more of a clean break than what i had to deal with.

elm at the local hospital split an extra 3ft. in 65+mph winds.

it talked alot.

be safe!

EDIT: isn't that a bradford pear?
kinda typical as far as splitting

Right you are my friend. I plan to be done by 1:00 and sipping on a cold beer in the shade at home, beating the heat.

my day will be a long one or until I burn out---1 pecan to takedown, 1 maple to completely remove. then start on 2 oaks and 3 hickory all to be climbed and I'm not a good climber.---I like my bucket.

looks like a$ 300 limb removal tom trees

That's about right on par Tom. After what I threw in to sweeten the deal (had to match what the other guy had bid). I ended up throwing in minimal pruning on three small trees and bid the whole ball of wax for 5. Should take me about 3 hours. Not a monster job but not bad for a half day on Saturday.

Chipper, Consider yourself lucky. A lot would kill to have that much going on on a Saturday. If you ever get anything big let me know. I am pretty good at hard removals and wouldn't mind traveling to AR to get away for a couple of days.

Very wise approach IMO. I occasionally take photo's where damage is existing to cover my own derrierre. Offering them to the client to help her out is exactly the sort of thing which costs you nothing but makes you stand out from the crowd. Hope you get some good referrals for being smart.

got some done

well I only got the pecan, maple done then there was a change in plans, the man had me go over to rental property and remove some low limbs on a big hackberry that the root mass is breaking loose----he gave the ok to cut it in sept. by this time my help was whining so we stopped for the day...monday is another day...

Well, I got-er-done. Came off without a hitch. Three hours, just as I predicted. Really wished I had a porty on this one. Would have made life so much easier. Two porties would have even been better. I set a block and got some weight off of it up high and butt hitched it in case it came loose. A tangle of ropes. I could have pulled and lowered the limb stub so much easier with a porty. No more procrastinating, I going straight away Monday and buying one. Hopefully they have them in stock at Vermeer. If not I guess I'll have to order one. I will definitely have a porty some how some way this next week.

Oh yeah, picked up some work for the neighbor. She is HOT! I can't wait to start that one. Did I mention she is HOT! :blob2:

I was surprised at the size of species that up here would small orientals. I saw some mulberries that looked like medium willows

You hit the nail on the head on this one John. Long runners laying over each other. Tops laying over tops. Willow is a good comparison considering how these are weeping. I really don't know what to tell them. If you top them they take off and compound the problem with weak regrowth. I thinned them best I could at good branch unions. These trees should have been maintained about 10 years ago. Nothing short of removal will do anything for them.

pictures please.
