Tool for Pulling Oil Seals?

What is do most people here use to pull off and replace the oil seals on the clutch and flywheel sides of saws?

The Stihl one is ridiculously expensive.

Saw this on Amazon but not sure how well it would work with chainsaws

This is what I use.

Also have some that I heated the tip and curled a hook across the whole tip.

Just need to take care not to break off the hook and lose the piece in the bearing so I used them with the saw on it's base rather than on it's side.

Click on my avatar, then my photos. There you will see the best seal puller ever. You just have to use a little manual dexterity and skill to make them.

Sometimes, I drill a hole in the metal and screw in a sheet metal screw and use that as a puller.

My local menards carries them. I believe the set is 7 dollars. Lifetime Warrenty if you break them too.

That's one nice thing about the clam shell saws like the MS250, just use your fingers to pull them off (after the engine is out).

Harbor freight also has a cheap set that gets the job done.

That would work on the larger ones, some of those on Stihl saws are too small to get a drill bit on them..

Then again, that's the big seal. Doubt you could get a screw in the small 026 seal.

I just pop a hole with a small punch like a nail set, and I have a small slide hammer with a little hook dealio, stick in the hole and couple wacks. I dunno if that is the correct way, but it works for me.

That's exactly why I would NEVER tell someone to do it that way.
