Does anyone know how much torque a 075 produces? I have an 075 that I have been using for milling for 13 years now and I'm getting tired of sucking exhaust fumes. During the last couple of trees I have started thinking about building an electric chainsaw mill and was wondering what kind of tourque I will need to get out of a motor to be comperable to what I have been using.

075,038 mag

This I'm not really sure of. But I know its alot. :dizzy:

I have thought about an electric chainsaw setup for a mill. Primarily for the reason that I live in a residential area, so noise is really a concern. Check out the logsol website they have an electric saw listed for thier mills. The price seems a little high. I can image one could be home made with a little bit of ingenuity.

Need a heck of an eletric motor and a lot of electricity to run it.

In terms of sucking exhaust, when I am cutting for prolonged periods back in the yard, often I run a big fan blowing the exhaust away. Sometimes I am cutting 4-5 hours almost non stop in the same spot, and the fresh "wind" is heavenly.

nice link

2K is a bit spendy for my blood. I thought it iteresting that their motor is 3 phase. I have been debating if I should go with a 3 phase and a VFD to slow the speed down, or go with a DC motor and an inverter. either way I want to be able to run it off a portable generator. Thought that finding out the torque I need might help me make up my mind.

I've never tried the fan trick. but I always try to set up to push the saw down wind when its an option. still would like to think about an electric option. Parts for an 075 are geting harder to find and more expensive. Also I don't really want to have to get a new saw as I really prefer the exhaust on the side configuration for milling rather than bouncing all that heat back into the cylinder and also causing the mill to warp. been there done that with my 038 mag.

Besides I have a dream, I would like to be able to listen to the radio while milling. maybe even put a beverage holder on that mill while I'm at it.

I know it may not be relevant as their are different ways to go, but for anyone thinking beefier electric chainsaws are silent, it's not so. My Miwaulkee is not bad, but my MSE 220 sounds a lot like a circular saw without a blade. Beefy gears and such, I guess.
