Somebody neg-rep that spammer for me, willya? I've reported him, but I'm out of rep bullets. Too many spammers.

Rudedog, any electronic contact cleaner will work. See your local Radio Trash store. Pipe cleaners may help, too.

Thanks Mark. I tried pipe cleaners and vinegar and it didn't help much. I went ahead and bought a new pigtail connector that I going to install.

Rudedog,
GC Electronics makes a product called DE-OX-ID contact cleaner. Former boss, now deceased, used that on his trailer connectors. That stuff even took off the pretty green corrosion:) that would form on the connectors.

If this helps, best thing I ever did with my plug on my f-250 was to move it up from underneath my bumper. Installed it in the license plate light hole after cutting it out. Was there only a few months 'til I lightly wrecked it hitting a fallen tree across the road. Spun around and went backwards into another tree. guess exactly where this tree hit? yep, right on the plug and smashed it. Installed a flat bed and moved it towards the top of the bed. Plugs stayed much cleaner and last longer by getting them up out of the salt and road grime, even just moving them up onto the bumper.

Well......... I figured out what my problem was. I traced the wires back from the connector plug. I found that they were spliced into the trucks wiring using those blue clam shell like connectors that joined the wires to make the connection. I cut it out and cut an addition 5" of wire back due to corrosion. I then soldered in a new pigtail connector from Eastern Marine

and heat shrink wrapped it for a weather proof install. I now have a working plug for my truck and can pull a trailer again.
