Whoever has had the tree austria saddle for awhile, has most likely noticed some wear on the underside of the 'bridge' , where the floating d ring sits in the centered position.

I solved this problem by having someone sew (with a heavy duty , large steel sewing machine) a 10 3/4" x 1 3/4" piece of thick grain leather. Smooth side facing out/down so the d ring would slide on that.

I also had her replace the two elastic straps that hold the leg supports in place , with 1" leather straps.

I am very pleased with this solution, the d ring now wears only on the leather, and I will report later if it wears through the middle again.

Welcome to the site.
The belt that has the floating D s on my Buckingham also has wear and the stiching is broken on the bottom cover. Maybe I'll get it fixed, I 'll see. Thanks for the tip.

she makes custom leather goods, somewhat you might find at a Rennaisance festival

anyway that might help you find who has the material/tools to do the job right
also she said the market value for the repair had i not helped out would have been about 40$, but you know i took that off the locust prune bill out front!

That is good. I need to do that to my saddle.

I had a shoe repair guy do it once, and told him to hand stitch it with heavy duty stitching, but he insisted on stitching it with the machine, then glued it. It came apart after about 6 months.

I'm gonna find someone to hand stitch it. Unfortunately the leather is getting stretched and ruined though, so I better do it soon.
