Just back from a trip to Beijing and Harbin. Harbin was great, and we visited Sun Island which is undergoing a massive construction effort. I'm attaching a few pics for you guys to look at.

Interesting. I'm surprised by the architecture. (and the use of a lift, considering the plethora of laborers in China).

heres' what's interesting -40 people have viewed these pics and only one (other) has anything about them. i am dumbfounded, personally.

one of my freinds is going to china hes a house builder,go figure on the labor, ive heard theres plenty of tree work as well.

Single family homes are coming on, I actually saw signs by the road this year, which is a first. Not sure what pricing is like. We're negotiating an apartment in a new building (Beijing). Won't be finished till 2007. Most every new apartment site is sold out, so the market is booming. Quality seems good, but its really hard to say. Course I've seen some stuff in the US that was pretty shady for the money too. Construction seems even more intense then last year, which I didn't think was possible.

As far as the look, I just can't get into the whole pollarding thing. I know its a European look, but it just seems weird to me. I really only saw it a lot in Harbin, in Beijing its not as frequent.

Here's a pic of that tree trimming shot from the other side showing the art gallery. Sort of Euro-looking.

i was told by a PICUS 'TOMOGRAGRAPH' [fancy computerised decay reader] sales man that most of these expensive pieces of kit are sold to the far east including China. I wouldn't mind betting they have some very good ARBORISTS out there

I could get right into the whole Crouching Tiger type of treework, sort of flitting through the green trees, sword in hand...
