none of you have ever used this?
i have a customer with a large ash tree with a large limb over her house shes worried itll fall onto the house
she wants to be sure it doesnt and im looking for alternatives to cabling

do you think its better then cabling or just easier?
how long before it needs to be replaced due to weather?

My understanding is that it will last a hell of a long time, it will not rot. Also the fact that it has some elasticty is supposed to be a good thing. A little bit of stretch makes sense to me. i am not sure I like the fact that it goes around the tree rather than using a lag as far as abrasion to the tree is concerned. Even with the chafe sleeve I would think there would be some. But I have seen lags fail and the "wrap around" will not fail. The lags may not have been install properly though, or may have been to small. I wont go as far as to say this is better than galv cable but I know I like it and plan to keep using it.

we do but it hasnt created the devastation it has in the east yet, we have taken very aggressive steps to put it in check
some clear cutting i didnt agree with but it made fiscal sense
some "stingless" wasps were introduced to feed on them
homeowners havent really aggressively started treating however
i do recommend it, and recommend people do their own research
7million plus ash trees in minnesota, its really only a matter of time, its a tragedy
