Tree ID help please

I've cut quite of few of these on my lot. All dead standing with the bark starting to fall off. Is it Elm?

I'd say yes, elm. Some pics without bark and end grain would seal the deal. Trying to split by hand will give you a clue too!

Yup I've found it splits the best when its not green and frozen. Anyone know what type of Elm?

American Elm... the creamy-white layers in the bark are a dead positive identification.
