Can you ID this tree for me? I thought it may be some sort of Olive tree or Fraxinus or Euc/stringy bark variant. The leaves are medium dark green on one side and smooth, light on the underside and 'matte', with small flowering 'fruit', stringy bark, fairly dense wood that is light in color, and stands maybe 7 meters tall. Here's some images:

Thanks!

I googled pittosporum and some of the pics looked pretty close. It said they have a woody seed pod that when it opens, it dropps sticky seeds. Does yours have rather hard seed pods? good luck with your ID, Joe.

not a pittosporum

I dont think its a pittosprum. The leaves are not the right shapen nor the bark. It is similar but the pitto also dosent have a white back to the leaf. That said I cant ID it, :( But I have seen it before, I just can seem to get ahold of it.

Could it be a Elaeagnus species?Perhaps Wolf willow (E commutata)
Just my 2c

I can't speak for the bark, but the bottom of the leaves are actually light green - not white. That is a product of the flash from the camera. They are matte, tho. Matte on the bottom, shiny on the top. The bark on the ground is a bit more stringy than the stuff on the tree, that was a dead limb I trimmed. The owner did a hack job of trimming it, as well. I had to spend a lot of time taking some off the literally axe job they did to it. You can see some longish stumps sticking out of the branches in the pic. That is after I had taken a large branch off of it that was pulling down the branch facing the camera as well, so she is standing a bit more erect than she was. It does seem to be the same leaves as the neighbour's hedge, though.

It's taking some time to get used to the Flora here. Many European flora look a bit different. I'm no expert, though. Not by a long shot.

Kinda looks like a metrosideros.
Jeff

That's a totally different flower. This thing is likely a pitto since it flowers exactly like all the images I have seen, and most of the images I have seen of the leaves and brush. Bear in mind it has been trimmed a lot. Without my work, and the axe job the owners have done. it would look much more like a huge bush right now.
