Devil's Club?

I think it was id'd earlier as devil's walking stick (Aralia spinosa), if the OP does not think it is that, then it is some kind of elderberry possibly. I'm guessing devil's Hercules walking club too.

Lol, i was just blithely parroting your id.
Devils club is quite distinctive.
By the pic it looks like a domestic ornamental of which I know little about.

Devil's club (oplopanax horridus) appears to have maple like leaves. The roots,stems and inner bark can be used as medicine to help strengthen the body and help it adapt to stress and illness.
