Interesting..I just posted a thread on this software and today I get an email out of nowhere.

Price for the software is $495.00 www.treequote.com I believe. I do not understand how this could even work.

At least it is cheap:rolleyes:. I bet it works, but you probably spend more time keyin in info than it would take to just figure it up in your head, and print out the bid sheet when you got home.

It seems unrealistic for a computer to have enough info on the tree to give an accurate bid without extensive inputs from the user.

I agree. There's so many variables the we calculate in seconds. I can't see the human eye being replaced too soon.

As Carl said, "It seems unrealistic for a computer to have enough info on the tree to give an accurate bid without extensive inputs from the user." All those inputs take a finite amount of time.

I'd still like to see this stuff in action, though. Ought to be interesting.

I got a spam from them today. My estimator, Rocky :), worked up an $8,100 bid to take down a dense, fifty foot tree with no access about 60' from the chipper.

If I have time I might run the numbers on the silver maple in my backyard to see how they jive.

Ok, I used the tree quote on one of my hickory trees in my back yard. My estimate to remove the tree was $850.00

Tree quote price was $3,051.66. I think a few other people should try this to see if your results are similar to mine.

From my one experience, I say it would be a great money maker, but I do not think I would get much work using it.

I am curious to see how your other guys come out.

A Pine tree 28''dba, 90'(height) b/t my house and another(13 feet apart) that I would do for 1200$ with a crane(full access) came out to be $3030.82.

I will accumulate 3-4 different jobs before I call in the crane so there is a dark spot. I would bid way high and hope not to win. If I had to climb the ol boy I would bid $2700-$ 3000.

I tried out the free test program on two trees that I already have signed contracts for. Both removals. The computer program quoted $921 on a job that I'm getting $1200 for. It quoted $20170 on a job I am getting $3650. I know I did not underbid that job. I can do it in 3 days with 2 groundmen. I don't think there is any tree company in the entire US that would have bid even $10,000 for the 2nd removal. IMHO, the program will cost you big bucks by underbidding, or over bidding so badly that you would not get a lot of jobs.
