Is that for real? What the hell kind of power line goes in a shape like that?! Our are usually In a straight line! What are you trying to ask here?! How to take the tree down? How to get rid of the stump? When I have to grind a stump with utilities that close I hand dig with a shovel and expose the line on both sides of the tree to find the true depth of the line. You can't go off of the paperwork they give you. (Read the disclaimer on back) if the power line is a foot or 2 deep then I would suggest only grinding 6" below grade and that's it. Better yet leave the stump there cut off low. I hope you don't plan on ripping that out/down with an excavator! If you don't have a clue call someone who does!!!!

Do a little searching with the shovel. Go easy though, being residential it's probably direct bury( not in conduit) and probably not at the proper depth(30" in my area). Not a fun situation to be in. Real nerve racking when grinding

In situations like this I tell the client that maybe the line should be dug up and replaced as its the chances it has been disrupted by the roots is probable. The last one I did was a gas line. If it were mine that is what I would do.

I have no idea why the lines are like that, is in a development that was built in the 70s we are excavating the stump out now, cutting the tree down was the easy part :) next time I will take the advice of yall and say leave it lol.

Dang someone put one in right. Wouldn't grinding be easier?
Oh yea, it would of made my day. Especially because our grinder is an attachment on the front of our bobcat. We got the tree out and the line was right under the ball we pulled out. What a day, thanks for all the input guys. Lesson learned, no more lines within 22,000 feet of a tree lol.
