Just curious, After reviewing some of the threads in here I was wondering if someone would have some input into the trimming saw category. I have been and still am thoroughly impressed with my Husky 338xp, but have recently purchased an Echo 330t as a backup. The husky is about two and half years old, and that is two and a half years of hard labor. It has always performed well for me.
An old friend of mine and I argue about trimming saws on a regular basis, and the topic brings out the passionate side of the two of us. With over 25 years exp. in treework, myself, and with him in the business for over 35 years, we both seem to think we know everything.....at least with eachother. LOL
So I was curious to know what the real experts thought.

Welcome to the site oldugly! You will find people here are passionate about the trimming saws they use. I don't claim to be an expert, but our company uses the Sthil ms200t for trimming. We trim mostly palms here in South Florida.

I just had a why didn't I ever think of that moment.:dizzy: Until I read this post I had never envisioned a chainsaw used on palmtrees or any other 'tropical' flora but it really makes sense!!! I've got to think outside the box a little more :) How does a palm tree cut anyway?

I haven't been a big fan of Stihl since the early 80's when their ignitions seemed to be made of crepe paper. I remember replacing them every month on 4 different saws. Never owned one since, and never had someone from an actual saw shop admit they had a problem with them. The husky 338xpt I've been using seems like a powerhouse, and a good balance, plus a quick cut to it. After bouncing around with me in the trees for two years, I have only had to replace a spark plug, and a recoil rope.
That little Echo 330t seems to run to the same beat as that little husky, but at alot less the price.
