i clumb a maple tree today and trimmed some of the branches away from my gf's dads pool and i took my 660 up. wrong thing to take im hear to tell ya. you dont realize how heavy they are.lol but its the only saw i had with me and it got the job done. :greenchainsaw:

Good grief!

If I must use a power saw in a tree (handsaw will not cut it), I use a short bar very light weight electric saw with safety chain/bar myself. It's slow and a piece of junk, but I feel a WHOLE lot safer using that up in a tree...

The largest saw I have is a 460 big bore which has the power of a 650. I would be scared poopless to haul THAT up into a tree! Actually I don't particularly care to use it on the ground either unless necessary... (Too loud and too much saw.)

You had your climbing gear and a big saw but not a climbing saw? :dizzy:
Man you need a bigger truck box or something. :dizzy:

Wow! I dont climb myself, but could imagine trying to use a saw that big in a tree.. All I use anymore are the 660/066 family, alot of guys I know that log like the 460, a hair lighter, but in my situation skidding with a team of horses I'm bucking everything right where it lands, pressure on alot of the stuff, I got used to the chain speed of the big boy and I'm hooked... 20" bar and their like lightning, I'll throw on a 25" for felling big stuff..

i didnt exactly plan on climbing. i showed up for easter dinner and he wanted me to do it. my 136 husky is here at the house and it needs a coil

I did probably 15,000 $ of work for my G-folks on Ironside OR with an ms 044and a 372.

I decided i needed a little saw when the swinging 044 seemed enough to snap the stems i was clinging to.

I also had my 795 with a 42'' bar on it up in one of the cotton woods in front of our house. not very high though just about 8 or 10 feet. It takes some oomph to level one of thoes suckers above the head.
