Does anyone out there know the average dimensions of a self loading truck? I have firewood for sale in 10ft bolts and Im wondering how many cords I can stuff on one truck.:greenchainsaw:

I would think that if you could rig to load 10 footers, weight would be your biggest worry. Around these parts the self loaders don't have the extra bunks in order to make even half a normal load from 10' bolts. Our trucks have just the front bunk and the back and nothing in between, because hopping the trailer would be most difficult. I think that the shortest between the front and the back has been maybe 15' and from there they stretch out to carry 40+ footers.

Our loads last year were from a self loader. All oak and we got I think abt 10 cords from one truck. Logs went from 34' to 40'. He came on sunday so the scales are closed and was abt 6000#'s over weight. Diameter from 10" to
38". The wood had been on the deck for a couple years so it was dry as possible.

Hope this will help

It is not self loading though.

In the Northeast most self loading tri-axles are going to have length capacity of 20-24 feet and a 6-8 cord overall capacity depending on the logs.
