I operate out of a Dodge 2500 (Diesel) 4x4 with a short (6') box. I finally got tired of climbing over all my gear to get something at the back of the box, so I grabbed a few sheets of plywood and got creative.

I don't always bring all saws (the 088 stays home, except for the big jobs) or all my ropes, rigging etc. However, on occasion, when everything is required, it all fits. There is still quite a bit of room in the totes (is there a GRCS in my future?).

Once the plastic garbage can, gas can and pylons are removed, I can easily access any item I need while leaving the other items under the cap (protected from the rain, etc.).

The nice thing about this organizer is that the whole thing will slide out, leaving the box empty, if I need it.

Totes of gear on top, saws and spare saw/chipper parts on the bottom.

Place for rakes and dull chains.

Two 4' pruner poles, easy access tools, cant hook and pitch fork on the side.

Add the backpack blower, tools, helmets and oil.

Rope bags, broom, clean up can and pylons. Fully loaded and good to go.:)

In a balatant travesty against all that is right I had mounted the saw box on top of my dump truck for a period of time

Nice work on the organization but you forgot one of these

I used to take a propane stove and a cooler and a big beach umbrella

cheap box liners. I came across a bread truck in the bone yard so I snagged a few of the bread crates. They make half decent snow shoes too. Just cut the shape and bolts a pair of shoes to them.

when in college the cops came to answer a call about 140 missing milkcrates from the store across the way.

That looks great. Wish I was that resourceful.:)

I'd get those windows covered up somehow.
Looks like a pawn shop tweakers dream.
But other than that I give you an A for organization.

Thanks guys.

It is hard to tell from the pictures, but the windows are tinted (hard to see in from the outside). The equipment gets brought in every night. On most jobs we are close to the truck (chipper attached and blowing into the woods). I have a piece of plywood that covers the back (floor to ceiling) and a cable lock that runs from the roof rack to the trailer hitch for some security. I make sure the truck is in sight when we stop for breakfast. At least it will slow down the honest thieves.
