I have a TS420 concrete saw that I can't get to start or even hit. I put in a new piston and cylinder and the compression is around 140 and the saw has spark. I put a small amount of fuel mix in the spark plug hole and it won't even hit doing that. I've tried different spark plugs so I don't think it's that. I rebuilt the carburetor but doubt it matters since I put fuel directly in the cylinder. I haven't checked the muffler and wondered if a stopped up muffler might be the problem.. Trying to figure out my next move.

I took the flywheel off and the keyway was fine. It had another magnet and pickup in the center of the flywheel for whatever reason.. I drained the tank and squirted a bit of fuel into the sparkplug hole again and this time it hit once. Pulled again and it hit once again. I'm wondering now if maybe there's a bunch of fuel or oil or something in the crankcase or muffler since it won't keep running. It should have hit more than once with a squirt of fuel I would think...I have a weak heart so I can't pull on the thing all day like I used to. Right now I'm letting it sit but may later turn it upside down with the plug out and see if it drains anything..

Actually, I just got it started about 10 minutes ago. I got it to hit a couple of times then noticed it was flooded so I held the trigger all the way down with choke off and pulled hard several times and it started but was running really heavy for awhile then finally leaned out then it ran out of fuel. I had previously drained the tank so it wouldn't get any gas through the carburetor. Tomorrow I'll fill it up and try to start it and adjust the carb. Probably just use the choke sparingly...

Had one come in just yesterday. Complaint was "Won't start." I removed the spark plug cover to check for spark and found the spark plug wire off of the plug. Just laying there behind the spark plug. My first thought was someone had already been in there. I reinstalled the plug wire and finally got it to start. It was terribly flooded from guys trying to get it to start.
The TS 420 seems to have a lot of mounting/anti vibration movement between the saw body and the engine main frame. So much so that the top of the plug wire can come in contact with the cover and will eventually get knocked off of the plug. I'm not quite sure how this can be corrected. Maybe just run it with the plug cover off? Has anyone else had or experienced this problem? Dead giveaway is the plug wire will be off when you remove the cover.
Hope you got yours running Mr. Palmer. OT

I had one not long ago that the wire was still attached but the plug had vibrated completely loose. Luckily didn't ruin the threads.
