Is it only the .404 tips that have a bigger sprocket bearing(6 rivets)?

for tsumura yes. back in the day tsumura used to have the same tip bearing for 3/8's but i haven't seen one in a while. the smaller bearing tips last ok anyways though, better then oregon tips IMO. stihl bars got the best tips.
