Real TV.
Anyone see that climber get toasted from the power lines while gaffing what I think was a palm tree while he was on gaffs and using a chain for a lanyard?
The tree caught fire to add insult to injury.
The fire dept. made a crude rescue, the guy lived and is writing a book about his accident.

No, but speaking of tv trees, have you seen the commercial for ? product. I can't remember. It starts with a tree that has a large broken limb on a house then morphs in reverse. The limb reattaches, the tree gets smaller, the house gets dissassmbled, the tree is a seedling, then a seed in a field, then the seed jumps up from the ground into a guy's mouth. Then it says, "every action has a consequence."

If they could do that with michael, his dad would have gone bowling that night. Oh man I wanted to say something else, Buy I am aspiring to be a better guy like all the PC I get to admire around here.

Thought it was a commercial for a Playstation video game?

Did you notice....

I have a new found respect for Michael Jackson. Karina and I happened to catch a bit of that interview (after we were watching a movie on renaissance art). The very first things we see....

Michael and the interviewer standing below a tree and Mike telling how he calls it "The Giving Tree" (i think that was it). He said he wrote a lot of his best songs from up in the tree. The interviewer quesetioned his ability to climb up this tree. Micheal responds...

"I love climbing trees. I think it's my favorite thing.......You don't climb trees???....Oh, you're missing out."

He then proceeds to scamper a good 20-30' up in this tree, the interviewer following behind.

How wierd is it that me, who practically NEVER watches TV would only catch this particular part of this interview.

If you know someone who doesn't climb trees, tell them MJ said they're missing out.

love

I like the TDWaterhouse hadd where the guy is reving up a chainsaw, and fells the tree into the pool.

The guy who used to play the DA on Law & Order comes out and say something like "Doing it yourself can be good, but some things you should hire a professional for."

"Consumer Byline", hosted by David Horowitz, did an episode on their consumer watchdog tv show back in the 1980's. I worked on the Hanover brothers tree crew when one of our jobs in the Hollywood Hills was filmed.

Somebody should do a 30 second spot on hacks vs pro arborists.
Maybe the insurance companies could get together and invest some of your money in a commercial.

The ISA should create an optional donation to a marketing fund targeted at educating the public. Maybe add a donation line to the registration form for new members or renewals. I would like to think that arborists and business owners would create enough money to help with educational and promotional marketing.
