since i loved the performace od the advanced hitches but HATED the small hitch cord ,ive been playing around with a piece of blaze to use as the hitch cord on my blue streak ,and seems to be working great ,so far

i know the swabish (sp) can be tied with up to half inch rope and thas what ive been tying ,just not 100'

whacha think

i was just curious what u guys thought ,i mean i know im not the only one with big ass hands and gripping that little beeline cord really sucks

went right back to the ol blakes

I used to use 11mm split tail with an open prussic. It worked well but the difference when I went to 8mm e2e and a VT was like night and day. I fell in love with the performance of the smaller diameter e2e and VT the first time I tried it out. I just started wearing gloves to protect my hand from the higher friction.

To go back to a larger diameter split tail and traditional knot would be a step backwards for me at this point.

I have as big a hand as anyone you will ever meet. I use 8mm beeline and love it. I actually think the smaller line saves me money. Because I love bombing out of trees and if it wasnt for the fact that my hands dont fit on that little line all that well I would prolly be spending a ton of money replacing burned up cord and ropes.

save money ,beeline is like 30$,less u get by the foot,i mean i got this hank of blaze for less than 5$

can u go larger dia. cord with VD ...i mean VT:) cause i would love to try it more ,beeline is tough as hell but hate the way it flattens out as well

i mean in all honsty how is a VT better than a blakes in work situations ,i understand if ur running around a huge sycamore like in the friction hitchery video trying to make the best time, on youtube ,but in work situations...come on so much crap clanging around biners gettin kinked up etc

i mean i am more than willing to try it more and i am trying it more it just doesnt float my boat yet

you might try a larger beeline cord, that would save you some splicing time -- they have 10mm beeline as well as 8mm, and it didnt seem to flatten out like the 8mm, and it has seemed to perform well with blue streak...back when I used to use it. I personally hate it now, it has none of the features that I enjoy with these newer climb lines. Its heavy, bulky, takes longer to splice, kinda bouncy, not nearly as good for knots as blaze, poison ivy, etc.

When I was using 1/2 inch climbing line I used the 10mm Bee line, even when I started using 11mm climbing line I still used the 10mm bee line. I personally think the 8 mm bites to much on my 11 mm blaze. The only problem I see with using 11mm line for a prussic is your going to have a big knot there. Attaching it using a fishermen knot and you got a lot of rope taking up space and getting in the way on that system.
Whatever you use you have to dial it in and do some experimenting to fit your needs. So try out your 11mm prussic on the 1/2in line. Start out low and see if it preforms to your liking and is safe.

the climber I work with most of the time, uses a 7/16" e2e with I think a VT(never really looked at it) on 1/2 hi-vee it seems to have more control then say a 10mm would it also releases real easy and I've never seen it cinch tight even when the rope is wet :msp_unsure:
