Anyone tried it? I'm thinking there must be a way to set up something that'll do the trick.

Thank you for that. Looks like I should be able to rig something up.

Some other forums are heavy with bandsaw milling operations, including a lot of discussion about sharpening and setting the blades. I can't send you there, but you could do a search on the topic.

Lot of YouTube videos as well, that might give you some guidance. As I recall, setting the teeth was pretty important.

EDIT: OK - now I realize that you are talking about circular saw mill blades.

Take a look at a jockey grinder, it would be something similar to what You are looking to do. Keeping the teeth uniform is very important as is a uniform set. All the teeth need to be the same height as well as the width of the gullet. Gullets should be rounded at the bottom, a sharp corner will lead to cracking from that point. This for balance of the blade, as well as if one tooth is standing proud it causes extra stress at that point and can crack the blade. Only the very tips of the teeth need to be set say around a 1/4" and generally not more than .020-.025 out from the blade body again too wide a set can cause cracking of the blade besides robbing horsepower. Some blades are swagged rather than bent out to get the set . There are manual tools for this Occasionally you need to have the blade re-tensioned ( this keeps it running true not wobbling all over - you will have to send it out for that as it as an art in its own right when done manually- They have machines to do it now also).

Going back 25 years when I started with a bandmill, I tried most everything on blades. Jigs, cobbed up grinders, setters, etc. The best solution was the Cooks Cat claw grinder I bought from them 12 or so years ago. Also bought their lowest price setter from a private party. Both are just super machines, will probably out last me, could probably get my money back tomorrow if I wanted.
