Why the heck would they call courses in biology and botany "Natural History"?

Nothing about them sounds like "history".


Otherwise, it sounds like fun. Sadly, time is something I don't have much of available.

I wonder if one of those workshops involves clearing out the woods to the north of the campus.

It looks like they are doing most of the work at the park preserves. That parsal on the NW side of the campus is under a conservation clause to the title. Cutting invasives is about all they can do there.

Definitions of natural history on the Web:

* the scientific study of plants or animals (more observational than experimental)

This is a very old term, look up "Natural History Museums" many universities have NH departments.
