Hello,

New to the site...great site by the way.

Anyway, I work on equipment and help guys out with stuff. I don't remove trees for a living, and I'm no Arborist. But this question is right up the line of this board.

I looked at a 1996 Bandit 280 with a friend today who is thinking of buying it. It's got a cummins 4cyl rated at 111. Electric brakes. Here's the catch, it's on a salvage title for unkown reasons. We were also shown a repair slip totalling over $10,000 that showed every working part except the engine was replaced. It needs paint, but thats all I can see.

is $13,000 fair for this, a steal, or a complete rip off?

Thanks for the info guys

it doesn't look like fire salvage. The original owner is dead so asking about it is difficult. I would guess it was a theft, but I could be wrong. I know the work was done b/c it was worn out, and in fact we talked with the service guy that did the work, and he said it's new except paint. So $13,000 sounds good?

It may well be you should count your blessings that you dodged a bullet this time.

Would that be the chipper on ebay #3822648111 ? I was also wondering why it had a salvage title. Did not look to bad for the price.

yep

it had a ton done to it, but appears as though it had broken loose from the truck at a good speed. Doors m,issing, etc. We missed the boat anyways, but as one person said, it appears we could also have dodged a bullet.
