Yesterday for the photo ops I mounted the Tsumura 32" B&C and to get the chain properly tension-ed the adjustment was near the limit. Today I put the Tsumura bar up against a Stihl 32" Rollomatic B&C, and sure enough as I expected to see the Tsumura was shorter. Looks like it is 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch shorter.

Looks like the Tsumura bar is really a 104 or a 103 drivelink bar. Never seen or heard of this before. Oh'Well, something new I guess.

I bought the Tsumura a year ago as a backup/replacement bar, in case of an accident or end of life for the Stihl bar. When the Stihl bar is done and bound for the landfill I'll have to shorten all my 32" chains by a couple of drive links.

Buy a new light weight Stihl brand bar and put the rollomatic aside for the standby. Drive Link count should be the same. Somewhere (maybe a different site) this has been seriously anal ized

Removing a few DLs is a simple thing. And the lite weight bars are to expensive and get a little floppy when used for felling. Nope I'm keeping what I got and will deal with it.

No Doubt you will keep what you have 'cuz its yours. But to be contrary I know of a few loggers that appreciate a lighter bar and wouldn't go back to a steel bar unless desperate. I use a Steel Stihl bar or Oregon Powermatch on most of my saws and they work fine for me but some day I will have a lightweight stihl on one of my MS460s' Your original post pointed out the drive link count issue, I merely countered your concerns with a possible solution.
Aren't tsumura bars the same as the Total bars sold as OEM on Jonsereds and Husqvarnas?
I have a Tsumura lightweight on a Stihl 026 Pro and really like it but can't remember if it changed the DL count from the stihl bar.

Yep had the same thing with a Tsumura light bar 72dl, not quite as bad it was about half way through its adjustment range compared to the standard Dolmar bar the 7900 came with.

It gets weird with the different saw brands too. A 28" bar for a Stihl is 91dl, while it's 93dl for a Husky. 114dl for a 36" on a Stihl, 115 on the Husky...although I might switch to a 115 on my 066, as the 114 is tight with the 8-pin sprocket.

Actually, I might get an 8 pin sprocket for the Tsumura. The chains should then fit perfectly, and is something to try before I start modifying chains.

As long as you got the saw to pull it, the 8 pin is badazz. I have to be diligent about not stalling the chain out when buried in oak, but it absolutely shreds through the pine, cedar, and fir that make up most of the forest around here.
