VC Vigilant

I have a pre 80s Vermont Castings vigilant that I would like to put back into service. It appears to be in good condition, but I'm no stove expert. What things should I look for to make sure it is safe, or should I bring it to a stove store to have them check it over? If it is recommended to bring it to a stove store does anyone know of such a place in Northwestern Vermont?

Umm.... let's see.... Hmmmm...

It is a metal stove. Pretty basic, it isn't rusted out, right??
All the parts are there? It is still the same shape it was designed to be, without giant cracks (or any cracks) on the seams? Okay so far??

Hook it up, fire it up.
