This may qualify as a dumb question but; would installing a vented fuel cap on a saw that did not have one to begin with, screw the fuel delivery up?

What saw is it? I personally haven't seen a saw that needed a pressurized tank for delivery, but that doesn't mean some may not be out there. I know the Homelite XLs and Super 2s had a non-vented gas cap and used duck-bills on the tank instead, so a vented gas cap on one of these should work. We'd need to know what saw you're working with for a positive answer.

I was given a new fuel cap and was wondering if it would work as a spare.
It is a Husky cap, part # 503 82 80-05.
I have a 141, 340 & 357, would it work on those?

If so I will toss it in the box for a spare. If not let me know who needs it.

Thanks. I assume you mean the right side white circle vent?

Back to my original question...can I use a vented cap or will it cause any problems?

No other than the potential for fuel leakage from the cap vent. If anyone doesn`t believe me, try running a saw on it`s side with the fuel cap removed.

The carburetor is a "positive displacement" pump whose motive force is provided by crankcase impulse and flow rate is primarily regulated by the needle and seat, and metering jets, aka hi and lo speed jets.
