just bought a 1999 vermeer 1230 a with the perkins 85hp when i run it for 20to 30 minutes it will start to boil over out the radiator. ive done a pressure check on the cap and for a head gasket leak. checked out good any ideas what would cause it todo this.. also blew the radiator out with air and water thanks john.

thermostat stuck shut? Partially plugged radiator? Had a truck that did fine in city driving, but out on the fire roads with any grade to pull it started to get hot. Old radiator was partiallly plugged up. New radiator, no problem.

Try taking the thermostat out and running it. If it doesn't overheat, there's the problem. If still overheats something's either plugged up, or the water pump may not be pumping, vanes worn, housing worn, etc.

When it warms up can you see fluid circulating in top of radiator through cap opening?

Just a couple possibilities.

fixed the problem someone had a 7 pound cap on it i installed a 15 pound and the radiator was so clogged with dust etc had to get it with a 180 psi of air and water too. cant belive the owner beforeme didn't keep it clean.. thanks for all the help.
