I bought a used BC1230A and changed the fuel filters. Can't seem to get the system bled. No manuals. Can anyone help?

Gas or diesel? If it's diesel, you'll have to open up all of the injectors. Once done, have someone turn the key until fuel comes out and tighten each one. It should then start. If the fuel isn't coming out of the injectors, you either have a lift pump or injection pump issue. If you let me know the name brand of the engine, I might be able to help you more if it's a lift pump or injection pump. Could be a Perkins.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Dave! It is a Perkins Non-turbo. I replaced the lift pump because it wouldn't fill the water separator.

Okay...If you're not getting fuel up to the injectors, you have an injection pump issue. Let me know.
Getting a little at 1 and 2 but can't seem to get any at 3 and 4. Weak pump? Or do I have air trapped somewhere. It is a bit vague to me which plugs on the injection pump are bleeders.

Are you loosening the injectors? If so, there is an issue with the injection pump. They can be rebuilt a lot cheaper than buying new. I would find a diesel shop in your area who can have it be rebuilt. Don't take it apart yourself. Injection pumps are timed to the engine. I'm sorry, I don't know the working parts of the injection pump. I can help with symptoms. Sometimes there is a screen in the pump and that could be clogged as well.

Hope this helps!

Good info. Yes, I was loosening the injectors. Having replaced the lift pump I can only assume the injector pump is worn so that it can't generate pressure. Way outside my skill level. Time for it to go to a pro. Thanks Dave!
