Vermeer BC1800A doesn't blow chips anymore

Hello, we use a Vermeer BC 1800 A in our tree business. We have been very happy with it as it chips an enormous amount of material very quickly. It is getter older, however and we have had ongoing problems with it's inability to blow the chips clear to the back of our truck bed. They barely make it inside the gate and the chute clogs frequently, even with very sharp blades and the bed knife adjusted. We spent more than $2000 having it essentially completely overhauled ("to specs" as my husband requested). Same problem persists and the Vermeer staff have basically told us, "too bad, we've done everything we can do, you should buy a new model." Has anyone else had this issue? I miss our powerhouse chipper and just want to pinpoint and fix the problem! Thanks for your help!

Welcome to AS! I, unfortunantely, do not have an answer for you. Hopefully, someone on here will know. @backhoelover might. He's smart. I am just a hack mechanic. And I know nothing about chipper, except be careful with them.

I would check the fan paddles on the drum. They could be cracked and need welding. I would also adjust the anvil to the knives as well.
