we have this older stump grinder 206 with a 20hp kohler magnum that threw both rods. One melted onto the crank and the other poped a hole in the case. A short block is $2000 and its hard to justify for a small older machine. A 25hp command is cheeper but the old moter used a pulley on both sides of the crank. One side for the cutter head the other side for the hyd. pump. Any other tweeekers have diffrent solution. ya throw the thing away is getting old.

:dizzy:

You can get a separate front PTO shaft that bolts to the front of the Kohler Command engine. Different diameters and different shaft lengths. You just cut away the part of the grass screen to gain access and remove the torqs (sp?) head bolts for the one cover piece. Same holds true for Honda engines. Front pto shafts are available. It bolts on with 3 or 4 botls right around the intake fan on the front. Works pretty slick, though I think they want like $80 for it. Probably could make your own with a welder and lathe for around $20.

Engines blowin in 05

Is the crank able to hold up to both sides pulling power on the command . the old set up had this heavy pulley that had 4 bolts going into the ,i gues they call that a fly wheel on small engines ?, The grass screen was just cut out to allow the pulley to stick out .

Similar project as this old thread. Anyone able to help with a model of kohler command to swap? And also help with the pto side of things. Has anyone already done this? Maybe even pics. Small start up business in montana and would like to get this machine back to work. Thanks
