Does anyone have experience with the SC50TX or the SC505 on tracks. These seem like a great combination of qualities for grinding. Powerful, mobile, and a light footprint to prevent yard damage. I'm wondering about the durability and funcionality from someone who has run several different grinders. Thanks!

They are a bit pticey if you do not have a lot of big sumps, since you need a heavy trailer to transport, but with the direct drive they just melt through stumps.

IMO they are better then any similar sp grinder for that reason and the higher "stance" they have, they do not get bogged down in the grindings.

I have the vermeer sc502a it is gear driven it stays behind the truck. It has a perkins 50 horsepower it does a awsome job but behind the truck some times makes it hard to get to the stumps.

Thats about what I thought. I live in an area with a lot of very nice sodded yards so I need maneuverability, low impact and powerful since most trees I remove are large oak. Thanks for your prompt reply. Mark

These tracked grinders have the same top end as yours with either the Perkins or the new Cat motor. I guess it's all on a small excavator chasis so to speek. So it should solve the maneuverability problem but take a little longer to unload and load obviously. Thanks for the reply. Mark

i think you'll find there now 60hp ,ive been thinking about geting a big stumper just lately, the price/repayments just put me off

I've been running the SC50TX for a little over two years. The only problem I have had with it is cold weather! The fuel line will freeze up on those sub-zero days. I paid the price because I have alot of estate homes and turf damage is a no-no. I'll never get another stump grinder without the tracks.

some guy's on here say track's rip up turf ,so i guess you are saying it's [50tx] is good on turf ,turf friendly ??

turf friendly

Tracks do rip the turf more, but there is ways to avoid it, the 252 and 352's are much more turf friendly!

The 252 and 352 are very turf friendly but are painfully slow in the big stumps. I have been renting for the bigins.
