Ok i just Cleaned the carb and bar pulled out a chunk of string from in the clutch thankfully that washer beside the block kept the string out of the crank seal /area..
degreased it a lil with a gas soaked rag and put her back together

pulled the choke and cranked her over twice

BINGO up and running again!\

Good Score! I got a P-26 myself about a year and a half ago, it's missing all of it's paint and is 99% bare metal. It looks pretty rough but I had it up and running in just a few minutes. Since then I've bought 6 more Pioneers, I really like them myself. I have another P-26 that's in super nice condition, also have a nice Farmsaw. I really have an interest in Pioneer saws and would like to learn more about them myself, they're pretty neat.

50:1 is fine if your using a high quality oil of today's standards. 40:1 if you want a little more oil.

ya i dont mind if it smokes a lil more
the new mixed gas i put in there
is some i mixed up for my ice auger gas
25:1
ohwell i guess that will work to..:)
but if i run it for work i will use 40:1 like you said \

Is there a general rule with old saws to follow when mixing fuel?

thankyou

Very nice Pioneers, good you are salvaging some of them. I have saved a few from disposal myself. The 970 was my tree topping saw for 20 odd years, still have it and it still runs great.
