I recently came upon two stihl 011AV and I managed to get enough parts together from both to get one saw running with one problem, it has a walbro carb and it seems to be getting too much gas and stalls when reved up. Gas comes out the top of the carb.
I also have a craftsman/poulan with a walbro carb (diffrent style) that does the same thing, what's up?

If by "top" you mean the air intake, the gas you see in the 011 is just spitback - bad in these old carbs.

As for the problem.. might be ignition, or just carb tuning.

to tune the carb: http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=48633, post #2. If this doesn't fix it, you probably have one of the problems Andy mentions...

new saws have a spitback shield. really no room in the 011 for one. but you're going to be running it with the air filter and cover on so you'll never notice it...

lastly... when you say "gas", you really mean "mix", right?

Got It

Thanks for the info. Got the saw running. Yesterday I cut over a cord of wood with no problem. Sure am glad I found this web site, lots of good info and helpful tips.
