i have walkerized muffs on my 440 and 066...how does the increase really measure up to the factory dual port mufflers?..i would like to know others views on this matter and why and what they would do.....just lend me some personal opinions or experience............thanks ..........guff:blob2:

I'm not bashing Walker's mufflers. I have a few of them.

But, I think the Walker port sizes are too large for what I'm trying to achieve. When factory dual ports are and option, I go with them first. But obviously there are only a few models which offer factory duals. I'd go aftermarket only if no factory option available. I saw a picture somewhere of a Dan Henry modified muffler which looked like it had the perfect sized pipes. Just my $.02.

Here's a shot of a 026 that dan did for me, He's modified several others also. Ask about his 24 hour turn around time with Fed x. I sent one out on a Monday and had it back by 10:00 AM wens morning at my shop.

According to what Ken Dunn has told me, the factory Stihl dual port mufflers are right on the money as far as port size. Ken explained to me that a few years back he tried bigger size ports than what the factory dual port provides and didn't gain anything that was noteworthy. My guess is that if you would duplicate the factory size ports then you would be in the game. That is, provided you relieve the factory muffler of all of it's internal restrictions also.

Not all factory dual ports are created equal. Some are still too small and have baffles in them.

On my 55 Walkers made the ports the perfect size IMO and I love that saw. On my 670 they put some frickin huge honkers on there and you better have some serious ear protection.
